And that's more or less where it sat for ages and ages and ages and ages. And then, by random chance I stumbled across her memoir in England at Waterstones, which was even signed by her!!! I hemmed and hawed about money for a bit, but in the end picked it up. She was only at the far back of my mind at the moment, so it took a bit of deciding. But, the odds of finding something signed by Paris Hilton again were extremely slim, so I had to do it. I had to get it. And WOW is that book eye-opening. Much like the absolute storm that Britney had to live through, Paris had to live through her own nightmare. Being seen as a "problem child" due to undiagnosed ADHD, she was... well, let's not get into it here, it's quite depressing, but it did form much of her later advocacy work. The book of course also has everything amazing that she's done to that point, and it went and reignited the fangirl in me. After that, I started to hunt for Paris Hilton memorabilia, mainly an embroidered patch of some sort for the bag. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find anything in that department, however I did later find a pair of earrings from a collab that she did with Claire's, one of which was added to the patchwork backpack to go with Andy and Britney. The corner of the earring hoop tastefully slipped beneath the Britney Spears patch, and the clasp I eventually concealed with a pink heart patch from Hobbycraft. I started to get more and more little bits and things for Paris, ordering one of her perfumes online (picked out from the lineup by her Discover Your Scent fragrance finder, loves it), getting her cd's, Infinite Icon on release day, and her original Paris cd later. On that note, her team was amazing in that they took the background imagery for that cd cover and offered it as a blank pedestal image online to add yourself to! Naturally, I had to add a (slightly empinkened) Kabutroid. Given there was so little merchandise (her shop mainly had tshirts and cd's), I sought out some of the dvd's that she starred in, and throughout all of this, became active in all of her online social media (she is very active online). I joined her Sliving Society in the Try Your Best app. I also watched the entire back-catalogue of her show The Simple Life, which is just wonderful. She was very active with her community through all of this, and I got to join her many live chats (the ones shown being from the BBA behind the scenes premier on Youtube, and a live interview on Tiktok), message boards, her Discord server, and followed everything that she did. Which brings me to her advocacy work, which had been ramping up through all of this. She began to tackle the troubled teen industry, which affected her deeply growing up, and has since been lobbying for many things to end child abuse, protect youths, and brought public awareness to all of these things that were previously hidden in the shadows. There is far too much to go into with all of this, but if you search for Paris Hilton advocacy, there is a lot that she's done. She brought awareness to ADHD, and uses it as her self-described superpower in regards to all of the above, including her philanthropy and music. She's an acclaimed DJ that's played at places like Coachella, Tomorrowland, Pride events (she's very pro-LGBT), and just about everywhere, it seems not a month goes by without her performing a gig somewhere. She created the skincare lineup Parivie, has kitchenware lineups, all in an iconic pink colour (among other colours), and is just... very very active, it's almost hard to keep up with her! Thankfully, she does post about it all online, so barely a day goes by without something new popping up. Superpower no kidding! I will continue to see what little bits and baubles I can find of hers, perhaps some clothing, and post them to follow. Sliving, loves it. |
