The Great Localization

Oh. My. Goodness, this was more terrifying than I'd like to admit (like look at what I had to walk into). I'm still getting used to seeing "../index.html" everywhere, and I thought I'd lose my mind when I started having to go up THREE folder levels! I do however thank ALL of my stars that virtually all files exist in either /playplanet or /planetzebeth, though basically towards the last quarter of the task, my mind worked out that if I search for say "/planetzebeth/stuff/chainmaille/dragons/ and replace that with ", then remove a folder from the search and add ../ to the replace, then two folders and two ../'s, and I could relatively quickly go through the last few folders, and of course search for the ones not involving a quote followed by a slash, like URL=/planetzebeth/ (having a link to /anything takes it to the system's root folder btw), and we should have combed through everything at this point. I even caught a few errors that still existed on the site, like a link to a page that doesn't exist any more, or it's moved around on my site or something, just cleaned up a few things that came up in the searching.

And the end result, you should see absolutely no change, everything should work the exact same, there will be nothing visible anywhere (though the entire site is now 7.4 megs smaller, WOOH!)... but I can now browse the site offline (and as can you, if you download the site, or ask me for the site on a thumb drive or something, I'm plenty willing to share backups around).

Y'see, originally, back in Windows 98, I started the site in the root folder, C:/index.html and C:/planetzebeth/index.html and so forth. And if memory recalls, at one point when I moved to Linux the first time, I wasn't able to copy the site back to the root folder, and all of the background images, all of the "back" links, wouldn't work offline. They work online sure, but not directly on the computer. But I didn't even mind, because I never really browsed offline, I would navigate through the file manager to the file I needed and edit it.

But... at long last, and about time, we have localized all links on the site! All links, all images, all page forwards, all archives, even the random image generator (which REALLY terrified me, but ended up being not too bad). And it's still taking getting used to not just copying /planetzebeth/random.html from the address bar, and having to actually look at where I am and where the thing I want is, and mentally calculating how many ../'s I'll need, but I'll get used to it, and I tend to test all links on new pages, so we'll get it dialed in.

Let me know if you find anything not working on the site, and otherwise, WOOOOOH, the hopefully last great file editing is complete! We have The Great Transcription, we have The Great Image-Tagging, and now we have de-rooted all file paths in The Great Localization. Life is good.

Edit: And of course, this led to the site now being available for download (archive.org), on top of being printable!

YAAAAAAS! The third great site update is complete! The Great Localization, though not as much involving a ton of typing, it involved a ton of replacement work.
Hours and hours and... <checks phone> nine hours total, we opened literally thousands of html, txt, and php files, often hundreds at a time (thank you computer and notepad++!), and replaced "/planetzebeth's with "../'s.

And it. Is. Complete! The entire page now works both online and offline, it no longer needs to sit in root folder, it is entirely self-referencing! All folders, all images, done!

Most sprites are property of Nintendo, who are awesome and and amazing and stuff, and also this is a parody and also it's free and stuff.
